Self-Test for Diastasis Recti

I thought I’d do a quick video demonstration on how to properly check for diastasis recti (abdominal separation) after pregnancy. And apologies for TERRIBLE AIM…selfie-videos are new territory for me, haha. The takeaway here is that it’s important to make sure your abs are not totally contracted while measuring; just make sure you can recognize and feel the walls of each side of your abdominals and proceed to see how many fingers fit between them. As you continue to rehabilitate and bring those muscles closer together through corrective exercise, you should be able to self-assess and hopefully see a reduction in finger-widths! If at any point anything is unclear in my explanation on how to check for the ab separation (and how many “finger widths” apart it is), please let me know and I’d be happy to clarify!
